Pauillac's sole 4th Growth sits immediately adjacent to the legendary Château Lafite Rothschild, sharing the same Milon hillside and the same winemaking team under Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite, who have owned the estate since 1962. The barrels are even crafted at Lafite's own on-site cooperage — an extraordinary privilege that speaks to the meticulous attention lavished on every aspect of production. Duhart-Milon's 76 hectares of fine gravel, aeolian sand and tertiary limestone subsoils produce a wine of distinctive Pauillac authority and quiet precision.
In 2023, the estate waited patiently, harvesting Cabernet Sauvignon as late as 3rd October — a decision that proved inspired. The extended hang time delivered fruit of exceptional concentration, depth and cool-climate precision, rewarding those with the resolve to hold their nerve. The resulting blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot is one of the most compelling Duhart-Milons in recent memory.
On the nose, tightly coiled graphite and lead pencil frame dark cassis, black cherry and wild blueberry, with layers of cedar, cardamom and a subtle mineral iodine note emerging with aeration.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with saturated, polished tannins and a long, penetrating finish of spiced plum, liquorice and cigar box. Patience is essential — this is a wine built for the long haul. Drink from 2030, with confidence through 2045.
A brooding, authoritative Pauillac from one of Bordeaux's greatest vintages for Cabernet Sauvignon.
