Chateau Fourcas Dupre

Bordeaux Rouge / 2023 / 750mL

Tasting Note

Perched atop the Fourcas plateau — the highest point in the Médoc, Bordeaux — Château Fourcas Dupré has been crafting Listrac-Médoc wines of character since the early 18th century. Under owner Gérard Jicquel since 2019, the estate combines tradition with fresh ambition.

The 2023 Bordeaux vintage brought mildew pressure across the region, but Château Fourcas Dupré's naturally well-drained Pyrenean gravel soils proved a distinct advantage. Careful harvesting and a warm September delivered Cabernet Sauvignon-led fruit of real depth and precision.

On the nose, blackcurrant and dark plum lead, layered with cedar, graphite and a subtle mineral lift — a hallmark of Listrac-Médoc's unique gravel and clay-limestone terroir.

On the palate, this 2023 Bordeaux red is fresh and medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Cassis and dark cherry are framed by gentle spice and a long, savoury, mineral finish. Drink now with a decant, or cellar for 8–12 years.

A compelling buy from one of Listrac-Médoc's most trusted addresses — and one of the best-value Bordeaux reds of the 2023 vintage.
